I came to the school completely unfit and knowing no Kung Fu. I leave fitter, stronger, healthier and knowing some Kung Fu.
I have found the whole experience both challenging and very rewarding. The challenges are not only physical but mental. You need both. I had a motto of you can do whatever you want and be whoever you want to be. This for me was always about applying my mind to things. The thing I realised by being at the school is that this applies physically too. I have never pushed my body so far and I have been amazed by what I have achieved.
Shifu Wei has been an incredible teacher. He always seemed to understand what was going on in my head and how to best motivate and push me to do more. I have enjoyed learning from him and love the attention to detail and precision that he demands from all the students. There is a nice balance between focusing on internal and external Kung Fu.
Shifu Liu has been a wonderful and inspiring teacher for Tai Chi. One of the things that attracted me to the school was the daily Tai Chi practice. I just wish I had started earlier to learn more. The accommodation is basic but you get used to that. The thin mattresses are actually good for the body particularly the back. The food is simple and I have been impressed with the range of food there is for vegetarians.
I have enjoyed spending time with the students. In this place you develop deep friendships quickly. I have really appreciated the support of my fellow students in helping me learn and understand. I feel sad to be leaving but this place is in my soul now and I know I will be back here again one day.
