HELLO EVERYONE,

We want to explain to all our community what happened on the 31st of July 2014, more than 4 years ago. Even if we’ve already moved on and we’ve recovered from this event, there are still people sponsored by other schools, who want to wrong us and damage our reputation.

We are talking about a video that displays part of an incident that happened around 52 months ago (July 2014) in our school. This video was deliberately edited and subtitled by two students who show the incident in the worst possible light. They are not presenting the situation as it really was. 

These two students did that, because they wanted that the school renew their visas, when they were already planning to leave the school in advance. We refused to extend their visas according to the foreign affair regulations and they got vey mad with us.

FACTS OF THE EVENT:

• Master Hua, the master that was shown as a victim in the video, was a temporary Master that joined our school only for the summer time, a period of 2 months. He has only been teaching the Russian group. That means there were no others students under his supervision.

• This event happened on Thursday morning. At that time we had QiGong class and all our students were outside the school, in the mountains, attending their class. This is why you don’t see any student on the video.

• Master Hua was not following the school regulations. Two weeks before the event, the Head Master of our school told him to leave the school, because he refused to attend the regular Masters line ups that start the classes as each Master do. Master Hua didn’t want to leave. Again, 5 days before the event, the Head Master repeated his request because Master Hua didn’t comply with the school regulation on Masters teaching, but Master Hua refused to leave the school again. At the early morning of that day, Thursday 31 of July 2014, Master Hua incite all the Masters of the school to don’t show up at the morning Tai Chi class. This was the last straw.

• The Head Master decided to call his friends and escort Master Hua out of the school directly to the train station. But, as the video shows, the situation went out of control and finished in a conflict.

• The most important is that NO ONE of our students were hurt or involved in this incident. 

• At the end the school called the police, to deal with the situation. The school called the police, because Master Hua put Joy (manager of the school) in a dangerous situation: This parts were cut off from the video. Master Hua run out from the office after Joy. He started grabbing Joy on the stairs and pulling her. He had a knife in his hand. This is why all the men came to help her and started pulling and pushing Master Hua in the lobby (what you can observe in the video). Joy tried to stop them which you can also see in the video. After she run out to Master Wei’s training ground to get him back.

• Finally you see that the police car entered the school, but in the subtitles of the video, they wrote “more of the headmaster’s friends arrived”. This is absolutely wrong and ridiculous. It was the local police that answered our call.

AFTER THE EVENT:

• The Head Master of the school realized that it was a wrong decision to call his friends. He has never imagined that the situation could go out of control.

• The school and the Head Master took appropriate actions, including apologizing and explaining the situation to all the students. At that moment the school had more than 80 students including the Russian group (15 students).

• The two students that the school refused to extend their visas stole the footage from the security cameras and left the school making a lot of drama. Also these two students decided to join a newly opened Martial Arts school close by and from there they have created this negative and wrongly edited video, manipulating all the information and putting our school reputation to the ground.

• That new school saw a great opportunity to attack us and attract new students. They have created fake profiles on facebook and youtube to make a full complot against our school. They were sending emails and private messages to all our past and current students. In the next months, they were using these fake profiles to give a negative comments in almost every our photo and video, so all our community could know about the incident. 

THE PROBLEM:

• We couldn’t believe what was happening. At the end of that year - 2014 and the beginning of 2015 more than 15 students of our school decided to leave our school in advance and join the other school.

• We had to close our facebook group with more than 10 thousand members, because the other schools with fake accounts was sending private messages to anyone that was asking or showing any interest in our school, promoting their school and saying bad things about our school, or just sending the link of the video.

• Our school has lost a lot of credibility and a lot of students.

OUR ACTIONS - WHAT WE DID: 

• At the beginning we thought that the best solution will be staying quiet and allowing the situation to resolve by itself. We thought that in 3 or 6 months everything will be over. We didn’t want to believe that any of our students hate the school so much to keep spreading this negative messages for years. We were wrong and we understood it after one year.

• The video and unfair competition really damage our school reputation. 2015 was a very bad year for us. But instead of making a fight with that school or wasting our time fighting with those students, we decided to improve every single detail in our school and make it one of the best Martial Arts schools in China and move on from that incident.

• We improved our school in every aspect. We changed all our Masters gradually in the next 2 year. We changed our training plan. We changed our standards to hire new Masters. We renewed our website. We renovated our school facilities. We add regular meeting with the students to better the communications to listen to our students suggestions, and to know how they feel about training and living conditions. In that way we’ve been solving all the problems as soon as they appeared and we kept improving our school everyday. 

• The reason why we tried to forget and let go of this event, after it happened, is because we chose to trust our students, and we thought we would be forgiven by admitting our mistake and learning a lesson from it. Although since then we received two apology emails from our students, we also realized that further explanation is needed for people who don’t know our school yet. We noticed that over the years other schools didn’t stop taking advantage of this one incident and kept telling lies. Let’s say, according to traditional Martial Arts Spirit, swordsman are upright, chivalrous, this kind of behavior is totally against this Spirit.

• The biggest lesson that we have learned from this issue is that the management is very important. Therefore we started to sign agreements with Maters after both sides reach an agreement on payment, regulations and holidays. Learning from this, we started to understand the importance of pre-works.

• All our students, the moment they arrive to our school, receive information about regulations on discipline, classes, accommodation and visa. The visa policies are also reminded to our students just before they renew their visas. In this way every students can understand how these policies and regulations works and there is no more misunderstandings.

CONCLUSION:

After all this hard work and difficult time we have learned that all the problems need to be fixed immediately. In that way we keep growing as a school and as a family. We are happy and proud to tell everyone that our school is now one of the top Martial Arts school in China, with hundreds of positive reviews from students all around the World and that we earned again the trust of our community.

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND:

If you are a new student or you are trying to decide to which school in China you would like to apply, please be careful with the information that you find online. There are still some schools, after almost 5 years since the event, that want to wrong us by using this old video. It seems ridiculous for us, but it is true. We know that these schools promote the fake video just because it is the only way they can get new students. Because in a fair way they don't have any chance. They know that Qufu Shaolin Kung Fu School is the best place to learn Martial Arts in China.

So if you decide to contact an old student or someone online to ask them about our school, please double check if their profiles are real or fake. Those schools or people, that they pay, wish to damage our school reputation for their own purposes.
