I had the privilege of spending six months at the Shaolin Kung Fu School in Qufu, and this experience has profoundly impacted my life. This journey had been a long-time dream of mine, one that I could only pursue after completing my military service, and it was worth every moment.

The school was recommended to me by a friend, and I can only pass on that recommendation. From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed and quickly integrated into the daily routine. The training took place during the week and was a significant challenge at first. However, the experienced masters, who are always by your side, make it easy to adapt quickly and continuously improve. Thanks to their constant support and corrections, I was able to learn not only various forms of Kung Fu but also how to handle traditional weapons like the staff and sword – something I particularly enjoyed.

In addition to the physical training, there were regular sessions of meditation and QiGong. These not only provided a valuable balance to the intense training but also helped me become mentally stronger. The combination of physical exertion and mental relaxation created a balance that greatly benefited my daily life.

The accommodations were simple but more than adequate. It’s not a 5-star hotel, but anyone coming here shouldn’t expect luxury. The meals, prepared fresh three times a day, were always delicious and healthy – especially lunch and dinner, which featured rice, vegetables, and meat. During my time here, I ate healthier than I had in a long time.

What made this experience even more enriching was the opportunity to immerse myself in Chinese culture and customs. A particularly unforgettable moment was being invited to the wedding of one of our masters – a unique and beautiful experience. Weekends often provided the chance to explore nearby cities, allowing me to learn even more about the country and its people.

The school is a true melting pot of cultures. Students from all over the world come together here, each with their own story but all united by a passion for Kung Fu. During my time here, I formed many friendships – not just with other students but also with locals. Leaving this place after such a long time is particularly difficult.

The Shaolin Kung Fu School in Qufu is a place where you can grow both physically and mentally. The atmosphere, created by both the location and the training methods, is ideal for focusing entirely on your goals. Over the past six months, I’ve learned a lot about myself and have grown stronger both physically and mentally.
